My opera Black Blood will be performed along with three other excerpts from four operas in various stages. Black Blood features Teiya Kasahara, soprano, Derek Kwan, tenor, and Peter McGillivray, baritone, with direction by Michael Mori.
Synopsis:
Sun beats hot, crops wither dead, water runs poisonous. War. A dying Father and Son drink their last bowl of water. They need oil to run their machines to purify the polluted water, to grow crops, to stay alive. A hideous Creature from the enemy nation approaches them with a gruesome offer. “Black Blood”, a short opera, is an allegory of our current wars over resources, giving voice to the victims who are innocent, who do not wish to fight, yet who suffer the most.
