I am pleased and excited to collaborate with Vancouver’s Voice to Voice project and the Thursday’s Writing Collective to set poems by the collective for voice along with several other Vancouver composers. “Trout Lake Park” was written by poet Gilles Cyrrene will be performed by Ian Bannerman. It was a great treat to see the Writing Collective in action and set Gilles words to music. I know Trout Lake well and approached the work as a meditation, rather than the usual teleological western style art song.
The concert takes place at UBC and St. James Church in the DTES. Tickets are free.
